A diagram produced earlier this year, summarising the current state of using Wikidata and Sparql to summarise the history of banking in Scotland. It provides a view of who merged with who, and the 3 notable early crashed banks (Ayr, Western, City of Glasgow).
The colours help distinguish between active, merged, and crashed banks.

Some problems remain, especially around Clydesdale and successor companies (maybe one entity too many between Q81463056, Q23022218 and Q971680), and I still haven't added the fallout from the hubristic era to 2008, but these are for another day.
